Earlobe Repair

Symptoms and Causes

• Symptoms: Torn, elongated, or split earlobe, uneven ear shape, difficulty wearing earrings.
• Causes: Heavy earrings, repeated pulling or trauma, accidental injury, gauging/stretching, or long-term use of ear studs.

Treatments

The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia. The damaged skin is carefully trimmed, and the earlobe is sutured back into shape. Stitches are removed within a week, and the ear regains its normal appearance.

Prevention

• Avoid wearing heavy earrings for long durations.
• Remove earrings while sleeping or exercising.
• Use small, lightweight studs after repair.
• Avoid re-piercing until the ear is fully healed.
