A chronic headache is a condition where a person experiences head pain frequently, usually for more than 15 days a month over several months. Unlike occasional headaches, chronic headaches are persistent, can interfere with daily activities, and may be linked to underlying issues such as sinus disorders, nasal problems, stress, or migraines.

Symptoms:
  • Persistent or recurring head pain
  • Pressure or heaviness in the forehead or around the eyes
  • Associated nasal congestion, post-nasal drip, or sinus pain
  • Fatigue, irritability, or poor concentration
Causes:
  • Sinus infections (sinusitis)
  • Deviated nasal septum or nasal polyps
  • Stress, anxiety, or lack of sleep
  • Migraines or tension-type headaches
  • Hormonal or lifestyle factors
Treatments
  • Medications: Pain relievers, anti-inflammatory medicines, nasal sprays, and antibiotics (if sinus-related).
  • Lifestyle Modifications: Stress management, proper sleep, hydration, and healthy diet.
  • Surgical Treatment: In cases related to sinusitis, nasal polyps, or deviated septum, endoscopic surgery or septoplasty may be required for long-term relief.
Prevention
  • Maintain a regular sleep schedule.
  • Manage stress through relaxation techniques or exercise.
  • Stay hydrated and avoid known headache triggers (like alcohol or certain foods).
  • Seek ENT evaluation for chronic sinus or nasal problems to treat the root cause.
